Literature Text

I want more, I beseech you
The soul obeys
Giving barely even a portion of expectation
I'll survive
It doesn't take much to sustain me
Sooner or later obtaining the rest of my contentment
There's a place in my mind that whispers
Low wheedling tones of desire
Resentment
Passion
Fury
Unconditional love
All forming a churning cocktail of frayed emotion
Lacking control
Bound by heavy chains of shame
Of doubt
Misplaced kindness
I want more
More than what my boundaries allow
It's almost like falling
Somehow I manage to grab the ledge
Below me, horrid things that chew away my confidence
Climbing up upon a platform of faith
Paths above, branching off into darkness
I want more
Hearts that let possibility in
Gently colliding with pliable knowledge
Clearer understanding
With less rehearsed compassion
Truth overflowing
Cup full to it's shining brim
I want more

A little piece I wrote inspired by a song from one of my favorite artists. The desire to obtain more than the minimum that one accomplishes.
